1. Discover

Catalog entries describe actual date coverage, units, source files and hashes, licenses, and spatial support. demo data can be read without credentials. Catalog visibility for paid data is not an entitlement to read it.

2. Resolve and query

This example checks coverage, pins the chosen version, and receives the values directly. There is no download step. format defaults to json when omitted.
The result is { manifest, data }. Each row has date, longitude, latitude, variable, value, unit, tile, row, and col. value: null is missing data; value: 0 is an observed numerical zero. Coordinates are native cell centers, not a claim of farm-level measurement.

3. Use CSV when useful

Send the same request to /api/v1/data/query with format: 'csv' and read response.text(). It returns CSV in the response body. Saving it to a file is the client’s choice. Empty CSV value fields mean missing; numeric zero remains zero. The headers include Verdant-Dataset-Version, Verdant-Request-SHA256, Content-Digest, and a Link to source metadata. For tabular trial evidence, list /api/v1/datasets, select the CSIRO version, and follow /api/v1/datasets/{id}/observations?limit=100. Continue with after=nextCursor until nextCursor is null. Do not treat harvest-season outcomes as daily measurements.
